Width: 80mm | 4”
Diamond Pattern: 1/2" Spacing
This style of FlexNet Series uses Innegra and is woven if a pattern to create X pattern (large diamond shape), this is because once it has been applied to the board it allows the board to have multiple flex outlets. The X Pattern spreads to flex to the tail, rail any other part of the board when in use. The FlexNet is our lightest rail tape, patch and cloth.
Innegra S Surfboard Fibre Cloth
Innegra S high performance fiber is the lightest fibre and toughest available fibre on the market, delivering superior toughness in a composite while at the same time reducing weight.
What is Innegra Fibre?
Innegra is a Polypropylene yarn which offer strength, flex and resistance prosperities that has not been seen in the mainstream consumer market. The Innegra fibre is approximately 7-10% void volume, making it the lightest high performance fibre available, the polypropylene is design to work synergistically with Carbon, Glass Cloth to reinforce and improve the properties of composite systems. Innegra cloth is used as a replacement for glass fibre, aramid (Kevlar), carbon and other reinforcement composites, but offers a white clean cosmetic look.
What is the hype about Innegra?
Surfers/Shapers report that Innegra manufactured surfboards takes the chop out the wave combining the impact resistance of epoxy surfboards with the softness of polyurethane boards. Making Innegra boards light, extremely responsive and retaining the pop life (the new board feel) longer.
Innegra allows board manufactures to produce incredibly tough board, with unique flex characteristics, and best of all is the fact it is lighter than glass or resin and even lighter than carbon or Kevlar.
Back Rails Manufactures place the FlexNet Tapes on the back rail of surfboards to prevent the tails from shattering and strengthening the deck from foot compressions.
Bottom of the board The FlexNet Tapes are also used on the bottom of the surfboards to create additional spring or pop out of the board. This is know as a kinetic flex, as the board is place under pressure while in transition, during or out of a turn the board springs back to its natural curvature and delivers additional speed.
Full Rail of the board The FlexNet Tapes are often used along the full length of the surfboard rail with stringerless surfboards. This is to add additional strength or to replace the strength that a timber stringer would provide, therefore creating a Parabolic Frame. The Parabolic Frame helps prevents the board from twisting which increases the liveliness/responsiveness, this also creates a parabolic flex pattern that allows to board to deliver more drive, speed and power.
Lay-ups: The FlexNet Tapes are used during the lamination process. The tapes are place on the foam before the cloth is laminated. Most manufactures mark the area they wish to place the FlexNet, and brush a small amount of resin on the foam (to prevent to the FlexNet Tapes from moving). The FlexNet Tapes are then placed on the resin (making sure the resin has soaked through) and then continue to lay the cloth over the board and laminate as normal.
The FlexNet cloth is compatible with both Epoxy and Polyester Resin.
