5 Minutes with Jackson Close
From our Friends at Pacific Longboarder

Q: What else do you like doing in the ocean apart from surfing?
A: I like to bodysurf sometimes, but there’s always a board in the car when I head to the beach.

Q: Which are better, roller coasters or dodgem/bumper cars?
A: Roller coasters – they’re way more fun!

Q: Most stupid thing you’ve ever done?
A: The stupidest thing I’ve done is slept walked out of a three-story building down to the main road and had the door lock behind me. All I had on was my boxers. When I woke up I had to knock on the door and wake everyone up so I could get back in.

Q: Proudest achievement?
A: Having a great fiancé’ and winning the odd contest. Best comp win would have been the 3 Malfunctions in a row, Australian title as a junior and in the Open’s and 5th in the 2007 world titles.

Q: Do you ever use the word dude or bro’ ?
A: The only time I use the word dude is when I can’t find my car and when I’m in the States’. I use the word bro’ in New Zealand. Mean Maori Mean!

Q: Non-Hawaiians pulling Shakas’ and saying Aloha all the time - cool?
A: When you’re in Hawaii you get away with it, but in Oz stick to waving or a thumbs up.

Q: What’s the most you’ve ever been stung for excess baggage? How much and where?
A: Leaving Brisbane for France this year. That idiotic airline QANTAS wanted to charge Grant Thomas, Josh Constable and I $5000!! but luckily Josh can speak fluent bullshit and he got it down to $500 each. Thanks Josh!

Q: What and where is your ideal home?
A: It would have to be on top of the hill looking over Currumbin Alley, as that’s where I grew up surfing. If only it didn't cost millions to buy one!

Q: Best tale you have to tell from traveling?
A: Way too many! But the latest would be asking to my long-term girl Jaime to marry me. I proposed on top of a mountain that overlooked the island of Bora Bora in Tahiti.

Q: What was you favourite toy as a kid?
A: My Tonka Truck. It was big enough for me to sit in the tilt tray and go down hills and it did lots of cool stuff.
