Shapers Australia specialises in a wide range of quality Back Up Pads (Sanding Pads) that are at the forefront of SURFBOARD MANUFACTURING. After extensive research and development Shapers Australia is now releasing our new range of "Super Pads" - tailored to the needs of Surfboard Shapers and Surfboard Glassers.
These Back Up Pads are proven to perform particularly well also for both the MARINE (BOAT BUILDING) and MOTOR VEHICLE Industries.
Shapers Australia exports globally and supply most of our pads in both 14mm Thread (generally Australia, Europe and Asia) and 5/8 Inch Thread (mainly USA and South America).
All of the Shapers Back Up Pads range is supplied in both Velcro Backing and Cloth Backing. Shapers Super Pads are 100% Australian Made by Shapers Australia using the finest quality materials that are built to perform!
Velcro v Glue-on Back Up Pads
Most industries now use Velcro Pads due to a preference in using Velcro Discs. The reasons for this are listed below and hence our recommendation for Velcro over Glue-On discs. However, this is a personal choice for Shapers and Glassers to make and therefore Shapers Australia supplies both Velcro Pads and Cloth pads (for Glue-On discs).
- Velcro Discs last longer (more durable)
- Velcro discs remain cooler when sanding
- Time-efficiencies achieved in respect to interchanging discs
- No time wasted gluing on discs or cleaning up mess created from Disc Cement
- No addition cost in purchasing Discs Cement (disc glue)

6" VELVET AIR DISCS - SINGLE
New Air Velvet Discs. The premium product for wet sanding surfboards. The discs are foam padded with a superior abrasive that out lasts traditional abrasives. The Air Velvet Discs are used with water to give the finest possible finish with glassers generally getting around 8 - 10 surfboards per disc. Available in 6" Velcro with grits from 360# through to 2000#. Please select from the drop down list on the right.
